It is estimated that about 5.4 million snake bites, 2.5 million envenomations, 1.25 lakhs deaths worldwide and about 45 thousand deaths occurs in India annually.1 In 2009 the world health organization added snake bite to its list of neglected tropical diseases, knowing the importance of the severity of the disease.
