Comparison of Prevalence of Leukoplakia in Males and Females among Chennai Population

Aim: The aim of the study is to assess the prevalence of leukoplakia in males and females among the Chennai population. Introduction: Leukoplakia can be defined as a Thickened, white patch inside the mouth. Most leukoplakia patches are non-cancerous, but some show unique signs of cancer. They look differently in different areas of the mouth. Oral leukoplakia malignancy significantly differs with different tobacco habits. The most common cause of oral leukoplakia in makes is cigarettes and chewing tobacco. The most common cause of oral leukoplakia in women is betel leaves with calcium hydroxide and chewing tobacco.
