Periodontium consist of soft tissue including gingiva, periodontal ligament and hard tissues including alveolar bone and cementum. Periodontal disease are caused by various conditions that affect this soft and hard tissues. Periodontitis is one of the most common periodontal disease which results in loss of attachment and reduction in alveolar bone.
